Schwob AG wins the international industry award RWin 2017, making it the company with the best textile service of 2017 in Switzerland!

2015

Acquisition of Jonenthal Wäscherei AG in Jonen and integration into Schwob AG as a subsidiary.

2013

Hotel and restaurant business area is expanded to include clinics and residential homes.  Range expanded to include work wear for kitchen and serving staff.

2010

ISO 9001:2008 and ISO14001:2004 certification.

2009

Certification by FLO-CERT (Fairtrade Max Havelaar).

2008 bis 2022

Ongoing refitting of the laundries to reduce consumption of resources, including new ironing lines, dryers, serviette-folding machines and finishers for garment processing and in a new washing plant.
At the same time, investments were also made in new Jacquard weaving machines and production equipment for linen weaving in Burgdorf.

2008

Entry into the textile care business field and integration of a high-quality laundry service into the Schwob company. This was the origin of a unique and innovative full-service laundry rental with individual textiles „Made in Burgdorf“ in combination with a professional laundry rental service.  Fusion with the textile care companies Schärer AG (Olten), Eclipse AG (Arlesheim) and TexAG (Niederuzwil). All companies now operate under the name Schwob AG.

1995 bis 2006

Continuous investment in new jacquard machines and various new production facilities. Among others, a bed closing machine to increase the level of automation.

1979

Takeover of Leinenweberei Schmid AG in Burgdorf and relocation of the weaving mill - including the finishing and embroidery departments - from Berne to Burgdorf. A bit later, the administration of Schwob AG is also moved from Berne to Burgdorf.

1956 / 1957

Expansion of the linen weaving mill on Stauffacherstrasse in Bern to include a modern finishing, embroidery and laundry section (modern building).

1955

Schwob closes the weaving mill in Huttwil and Tramelan.

1942

Schwob AG establishes a foundation to support their employees in the event of financial problems - for whatever reason. In addition, the company establishes its own pension fund (even before the AHV and later the BVG compulsory pension scheme).

1940

Schwob transforms from a limited partnership to a joint-stock company and is renamed Schwob & Co. AG.

1936

The linen weaving mill Schwob Cie. opened an additional factory in Tramelan (Bernese Jura).

1932

Leinenweberei Schwob & Cie. takes over the Leinenweberei Huttwil AG. This is not integrated into Leinenweberei Schwob & Cie, but continues as an independent linen weaving mill. 

1918

The linen weaving mill Schwob & Cie. has its own modern linen weaving mill built at Stauffacherstrasse 78 in Bern. In 1920, the factory is put into operation with 24 weaving machines.

1917

After the death of Jules Schwob, two companies emerge from Leinenweberei Bern, Schwob Cie. On one side the „Leinenweberei Bern, Wallach, Lippmann Cie.“ (today: Leinenweberei Bern) with headquarters at Bubenbergplatz 7 in Bern. On the other side, the „Leinenweberei Schwob Cie“, which rented the business domicile with store at Hirschengraben 7 in Bern.

1907

 «Schwob Frères» is renamed to „Leinenweberei Bern, Schwob Cie. 
Sales store: Christoffelplatz 7  (today‘s name: Bubenberplatz 7)

1884

Move from Waisenhausplatz to Christoffelplatz 7 (today‘s name: Bubenberplatz 7) in Bern and opening a store.

1872

Schwob Frères is established in Berne
